Ukrainian Security Service Apprehends Double Agent Working for FSB Within Drone Forces.
Arrest of a Unmanned Systems Soldier
According to TSN.ua: Ukraine's Security Service (SBU) has detained a serviceman from the Unmanned Systems Forces on suspicion of collaborating with Russia's FSB and Belarusian intelligence. The arrest took place in the Kharkiv region, where the soldier was passing classified information about Ukrainian drones and robotic systems to the enemy.
Investigators revealed that the suspect disclosed details regarding:
- movement routes,
- the types and quantities of drones used by Ukraine's Defense Forces.
After being reassigned to operate ground-based robotic systems, he began gathering intelligence on the locations and operational plans of Ukrainian troops. This activity led to charges of high treason committed under martial law.
Seized Evidence and Consequences
During the arrest, authorities confiscated two smartphones containing proof of collaboration with Russian and Belarusian intelligence agencies. The suspect is currently in custody without the possibility of bail. He faces life imprisonment and asset forfeiture if convicted. Separately, in Kyiv, another Russian intelligence agent was detained for plotting a dual terrorist attack.
This incident highlights the severe threats Ukraine continues to face amid the ongoing conflict. Collaboration between military personnel and hostile intelligence services poses a direct risk to national security, potentially undermining the effectiveness of defensive operations. The arrest underscores the efforts of Ukrainian law enforcement to identify and neutralize internal threats, a critical task during wartime.
