The President of Poland canceled the meeting with Orban due to his visit to Moscow.
According to ТСН: The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Andriy Sybiga, commented on the decision of the President of Poland, Karol Nawrocki, to cancel the bilateral meeting with the Prime Minister of Hungary, Viktor Orban, due to his visit to Moscow.
In his post, Andriy Sybiga highly appreciated the step taken by the Polish president, calling it "truly a good decision".
The principled position of Poland
Sybiga left his comment under the publication about the cancellation of the meeting with Orban. He emphasized the importance of this decision for European unity.
"This is truly a good decision. It demonstrates the principled position of Poland and a strong sense of solidarity, confirming its commitment to European unity and security at a critical moment. Thank you, Poland," wrote Sybiga.
It was previously reported that Orban's visit to Moscow took place on November 28, during which he complained about economic losses from the war in Ukraine and proposed Hungary as a venue for negotiations, claiming that everyone was supposedly "interested in peace".
Moreover, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban expressed the opinion that the territory of Ukraine should be divided, as this, in his view, is the only possible long-term solution.
Thus, the decision of President Nawrocki to limit his visit to Hungary solely to participation in the Visegrad Group summit was a reaction to Viktor Orban's visit to Moscow and his statements. As noted by the head of the Bureau of International Policy of the Office of the President of Poland, Marcin Przydacz, the security of Europe depends on solidarity, especially in the energy sector.
This decision underscores the importance of international support and unity in the face of global challenges faced by European countries. Limiting contacts with representatives who jeopardize this unity may become a sign of greater solidarity policy among the states of the region.
