Push for Travel Restrictions on Russian Combatants

According to TSN.ua: Andrii Sybiha, Ukraine’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, has called on the European Union and other transatlantic nations to prohibit entry for Russians involved in the war against Ukraine. He stated that Kyiv has already handed over lists of participants in the so-called 'special military operation' (SMO) to Estonia.

In an interview with Ukrinform, Sybiha emphasized that Russians signing military contracts must clearly understand they are forfeiting the right to travel to European countries. He stressed the need to sever the final legal ties that once linked Ukraine to Russia, Belarus, and the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS).

'We must cut the last legal threads connecting us to Russia, Belarus, and the so-called CIS.' — Andrii Sybiha.

Ukraine's Strategy to Isolate the Aggressor

Additionally, the Ukrainian government has decided to terminate 116 international agreements with Russia, Belarus, and those within the CIS framework. These steps are part of a broader Ukrainian strategy aimed at isolating the aggressor and bolstering national security. This diplomatic push comes as Ukraine seeks to tighten restrictions on individuals contributing to the war effort.

Sybiha’s remarks underscore Kyiv’s determination to counter Russian aggression and prevent potential threats posed by Russian military personnel. The release of combatant lists and the cancellation of international treaties signal an escalation in security measures and diplomatic pressure from Ukraine on the global stage.

This could mark a significant move in strengthening support from allies and shaping a new security policy in the region.
