Sikorski and Zelensky held 'unpleasant negotiations' regarding Volhynia – Media.

Poland is considering the possibility of putting pressure on Ukraine over the issue of the Volhynia tragedy in the context of its European integration aspirations, reports Polish journalist Marcin Terlik.

During recent talks in Kyiv, President Volodymyr Zelensky and Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski discussed this topic. The Polish side was unpleasantly surprised by the negotiation style of the Ukrainian leader. The Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs states that they are disappointed with Ukraine's current position on the exhumation of the Volhynia tragedy victims and will take concrete measures shortly. One possible solution is to use Poland's presidency in the EU as a leverage to pressure Kyiv, demanding the resolution of historical issues in European integration negotiations with Ukraine.

However, a representative of Polish diplomacy emphasizes that defense issues are not included in these negotiations. Polish Defense Minister Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysz believes that Ukraine will not be able to join the European Union without resolving the Volhynia tragedy issue. The Ukrainian authorities also agreed to start search and exhumation work on the graves of Poles killed by the UPA in 1945. Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski argues that it is wrong for a young Ukrainian to serve him in a hair salon in Warsaw instead of defending his country.
