Warm December in Ukraine will be followed by a cold snap: when to expect minus temperatures.

According to ТСН: This week in Ukraine is enjoying warm weather without precipitation — neither snow nor rain. However, next week a new cold snap is expected, although not as sharp.

Forecaster Natalia Ptuha notes that it is currently difficult to predict how strong and long the cold snap will be.

“For example, both during the day and at night there may already be air temperatures with a ‘minus’ sign,” explains Ptuha.

The next week promises to be cooler, but snow on Christmas, December 25, is not anticipated. Ptuha reminded that last year Christmas also passed without significant precipitation, and in the south of the country there were rains with temperatures up to +7 degrees.

Reasons for the abnormally warm weather

The forecaster explained that the abnormally warm December in Ukraine is caused by warm air currents from the south and global climate changes over the past decades.

Earlier, meteorologist Vera Balabukh also warned that it is expected to be “quite warm” on Christmas. During the week from December 22 to 28, the temperature will be above normal. Regarding the weather for New Year’s, she noted that no significant changes are expected.

Thus, although December in Ukraine is marked by unusually warm weather, significant changes are not expected in the near future. Observations of temperature fluctuations allow understanding how global climate changes affect our daily lives. For now, Ukrainians can enjoy an unusually mild winter.
