Six Air Bombs on One Hospital. What is Happening at the Medical Facility in Berislav, Attacked by Russians.
Airstrike on the Hospital: Staff Continue to Work Even After Shelling
Yesterday's air bomb attack caused serious destruction at the hospital in Berislav, Kherson region. Windows, doors, walls, and equipment were destroyed by the blast. However, the medical staff did not stop today and continue to provide assistance to patients. This was reported by the hospital director, Severian Kardava.
There is hardly anything left intact in the hospital, but we are trying to continue accepting patients. We provide necessary assistance and refer them to other medical facilities where it is safer. The staff came to work despite the concussions some received. This morning I saw these people, and they are all fine. It is good that everyone is alive, and there were no patients in the hospital. But emotionally - it is very scary. Is it normal to drop air bombs on a hospital?
Kardava noted that before the war, the hospital was one of the best medical facilities in the region.
We served three districts and had qualified specialists such as surgeons and gynecologists. Our ICU was functioning well. But since the war began, many specialists have left the city. Now we have a small staff, but they are real heroes, working in such terrible conditions.
The director of the hospital emphasized that the restoration of the medical facility may only be possible after the end of the war.
Let us remind you that Russian terrorists attacked Berislav on January 26 and dropped six air bombs on the hospital. It is reported that the hospital staff immediately retreated to shelters.
According to data from the Ministry of Health, as of December 2024, 1938 medical facilities were damaged due to Russian shelling in 715 healthcare institutions, with 297 of them completely destroyed. So far, 935 institutions have been restored.
The most serious damages were sustained by medical facilities in Kharkiv, Donetsk, Mykolaiv, Kyiv, Chernihiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Kherson, and Zaporizhzhia regions.
The war has been ongoing for 1069 days. As a result of attacks by the Russian army on eastern and southeastern regions of Ukraine, many people have been killed and injured, and many residential buildings have been destroyed.
Moreover, on the night of January 27, Russia attacked Prikarpattya with drones, resulting in explosions at important facilities. In the city of Dnipro, explosions were also heard, caused by a fire on the upper floors of a building, triggered by the fall of one of the Russian drones.
