Russia storms Huliaipole: why Zaporizhia may lose a key stronghold

According to ТСН: The occupying forces of Russia are actively trying to displace Ukrainian units from Huliaipole in the Zaporizhia region. The invaders aim to cut off the logistics routes of this town by attacking Varvarivka and Dobropillia, which are located nearby.

The spokesman for the South Defense Forces, Vladyslav Voloshyn, noted in a comment that Russian troops are carrying out airstrikes on Huliaipole, trying to disrupt the logistics that provide access to this settlement.

«The situation in Huliaipole is very, very severe. Over the past day, there have been 31 combat clashes in the Huliaipole direction. The enemy does not cease assault and infiltration actions and tries to dislodge the Defense Forces from Huliaipole, from the urban districts,» the representative of the Armed Forces of Ukraine informed.

Additionally, Russian troops are planning remote mining of logistics routes to cut off Ukrainian units defending the city.

Recently, the Russians reported the capture of a command post near Huliaipole. It concerns the command-observation post of the 1st battalion of the 106th separate territorial defense brigade. The South Defense Forces note that the relevant authorities are conducting an investigation to determine the causes and circumstances of this incident.

Change of priorities of the Russian command

Military analyst Denys Popovych emphasizes that the events of recent days indicate a change in priorities by the Russian command. Huliaipole remains a significant stronghold that restrains the advance of the occupiers deep into the region. If Huliaipole falls, the security situation for the entire region will sharply worsen.

The situation around Huliaipole continues to remain tense, as control over this city can significantly influence the strategic positions of both sides. Events in the region are closely monitored, as they may determine the further development of the military conflict in Ukraine.
