Three Officials Face Trial Over Shoddy Road Repairs in Kyiv Scandal.
Poor Road Work Leads to 5 Million Hryvnia in Damages
According to Novyny.live: A scandal has erupted in Kyiv over defective road repairs, resulting in losses totaling 5 million hryvnia. Prosecutors have sent an indictment to court against the chief engineer of a private firm and two officials from the municipal organization 'Kyivavtodor'. The case highlights ongoing concerns about corruption and oversight in Ukraine's infrastructure projects.
What Went Wrong and Who’s to Blame
The faulty repairs took place on Pavlo Skoropadskyi Street in the capital's center. 'Kyivavtodor' had contracted the private company 'Kyivshliakhbud' to carry out the work. However, during the process, the engineer falsified test reports, providing inaccurate data that paved the way for further violations.
Officials from 'Kyivavtodor' also signed off on completion certificates despite knowing the information was fraudulent. If convicted, the defendants face 7 to 12 years in prison. The case will now proceed to court, where a judge will determine their fate.

The outcome could have far-reaching implications for other initiatives, as it is expected to increase scrutiny of contractual relationships between municipal enterprises and private contractors in Ukraine. The court's ruling may set a precedent for similar cases in the future.
