Storm 'Goretti' Paralyzed Gdansk Airport: Dozens of Flights Canceled.
According to ТСН: Gdansk Airport in Poland is facing serious issues due to heavy snowfall. Some flights have been canceled, while others are delayed. Meteorologists have announced a Level II warning for the Pomeranian Voivodeship region.
Heavy snow and gusty winds have affected flight schedules at Lech Walesa Airport. As a result, 14 flights were canceled or redirected as crews on some planes were unable to land due to the large amount of snow. Flights to cities like Stockholm, Copenhagen, Amsterdam, Frankfurt, and Warsaw did not depart.
'Our services are actively clearing snow at the airport. Currently, the weather is favorable, there is no precipitation, but the forecast is not optimistic. Further disruptions are possible. We ask passengers to monitor the status of their flights and contact their airlines,' said airport spokesperson Agnieszka Mihailov.
Meteorologists forecast that further precipitation could lead to an increase in snow cover by 20-30 cm in some areas and, in some cases, up to 50 cm. A warning about strong winds that could cause windstorms and blizzards has also been issued.
Additionally, storm 'Goretti' has swept across half of Europe, bringing gales, heavy rains, snowfalls, and icy conditions. Many trains and flights at airports in Germany and France have been canceled. In these countries, schools were also temporarily closed, and people were urged to stay home. At least ten people have died over the week.
Weather conditions in Europe remain challenging, and authorities are urging people to be cautious. The situation at Gdansk Airport may worsen due to unpredictable weather changes, so passengers should carefully monitor information from airlines and transport control authorities.
