Household soap destroys facial skin: the danger of a myth from the past.
According to ТСН: For a long time, household soap was considered natural, ecological, and safe. Because of this, it was used not only for laundry but also for personal hygiene. This myth has its roots in periods of scarcity when the choice of cosmetic products was limited, and household soap became the only option for skin cleansing.
Why household soap is not suitable for the face
In fact, household soap is very aggressive for the delicate skin of the face. Its main purpose is to dissolve stubborn dirt, so it has a high pH level (11-12). In contrast, human skin has an acidic pH of about 5.5. Such imbalance can disrupt the natural protective layer of the skin - the hydrolipid mantle, leaving it defenseless against external irritants.
As cosmetologists state:
“Using household soap for the face is the same as trying to wash a crystal vase with an engine cleaner. There will be an effect, but it is destructive.”
Dryness, irritation, and premature aging: the main risks
Although household soap can create a feeling of ideal cleanliness, which is especially liked by owners of oily skin, this effect is very short-lived. The product washes away not only dirt but also beneficial fats and microflora, leading to dryness and vulnerability of the skin.
When the protective barrier is disrupted, sebaceous glands begin to work more actively to compensate for the loss of moisture. As a result, oiliness, irritation, flaking, and redness may appear on the skin. Regular use of household soap leads to chronic dehydration, reduced skin elasticity and accelerates the appearance of wrinkles.
The belief that household soap can fight wrinkles is dangerous - in reality, it only worsens the condition of the skin and accelerates aging.
What to choose instead of household soap
Modern cosmetic products, such as gentle foams, gels, and mousses, have been specially developed for facial skin. They effectively cleanse without disrupting the natural balance, preserving the hydrolipid mantle and supporting the health and beauty of the skin.
Therefore, household soap is better left for household needs, and facial care should be carried out using professional products that help maintain youth, radiance, and elasticity of the skin.
Thus, although household soap was once considered a universal remedy, its aggressive properties actually cause more harm than good. Today, it is important to choose gentle, specially designed facial cleansing products that will preserve the natural balance of the skin, providing it with the necessary protection and care. This will help to maintain the beauty and youth of the skin for many years.
