Scholz spoke about possible negotiations with Russia: main condition.
Chancellor of Germany: it is necessary to actively work on ending the war in Ukraine
German Chancellor Olaf Scholz made a statement in the Bundestag about the need for active efforts to end the war in Ukraine. He pointed out that the Russian leadership should receive a signal that cannot be ignored.
"In addition to our clear support for Ukraine, we must do everything possible to ensure that this war does not last forever," Scholz said.
The Chancellor emphasized that negotiations with Russia should be conducted in coordination with partners and never without Ukraine. He stressed that no decision will be made without taking into account Kyiv's position.
"If we are asked whether we will negotiate with the President of Russia, we will answer: yes, we will. But no decision will be made without Ukraine's consent and without coordination with our closest partners," he added.
Scholz also assured that Germany and its allies will continue to support Ukraine. He noted that the allies must send a clear signal that Kyiv can count on and one that the President of Russia cannot ignore.
In addition, the Chancellor called the Russian soldiers who died in the war against Ukraine "victims of the imperialist madness" of the Russian president.
