Starmer assures Zelenskyy: Global focus must stay on Ukraine.
Keir Starmer meets Volodymyr Zelenskyy
According to TSN.ua: During a meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer reaffirmed Britain’s unwavering commitment to supporting Ukraine. The talks took place against the backdrop of the military conflict in Iran, which has significantly impacted global oil prices. Starmer stressed the need for the international community to keep its attention fixed on Ukraine, stating:
“The focus must remain on Ukraine.”
UK’s stance on Russia
Amid rising tensions in the Middle East, Starmer made clear that Vladimir Putin should not be allowed to exploit the crisis.
“Putin cannot be the one who benefits from the conflict in Iran—whether through oil prices or the lifting of sanctions,”he said. These remarks reflect the UK’s continued commitment to Ukraine in the face of global challenges.
It is worth noting that the United States has partially lifted some sanctions on the Russian Federation, a move that could have negative consequences for the international situation. In this context, Starmer stressed that 'Russia must not profit from the crisis.' Britain remains dedicated to its obligations to support Ukraine, despite the complex challenges confronting the global community.
This meeting highlights the importance of international solidarity with Ukraine, especially at a time when global crises risk diverting attention from the conflict. Starmer’s words signal that the UK intends to remain an active player in ensuring Ukraine’s security, even as new challenges emerge from the situation in Iran and shifts in US policy toward Russia. Under these circumstances, continued support for Ukraine is essential not only for its own security but also for stability in the region and the world at large.
