Geography Teacher Found Not Guilty

According to TSN.ua: The Rivne Court of Appeal has exonerated a geography teacher from Ozenin Lyceum No. 2, who had been accused of bullying a sixth-grade student. The court found no evidence of an administrative offense, which formed the basis for dismissing all charges against her.

The Dispute and Its Aftermath

The conflict between the teacher and the pupil occurred during a geography lesson when the teacher confiscated the student's mobile phone while she was completing a task. It is known that the student has diabetes, a detail that became a significant factor in the case. Following the incident, the student's mother, who also works at the lyceum, confronted the teacher demanding an explanation.

As a result of the dispute, the student stopped attending geography classes, which alarmed her parents. They subsequently filed complaints with both the police and the education authorities. In December 2025, the Ostroh District Court closed the administrative proceedings against the teacher, confirming there were no grounds to hold her liable.

Upon review, the Rivne Court of Appeal upheld the lower court's decision, thereby affirming the teacher's innocence. This ruling brings the contentious situation at the educational institution to a close, allowing the teacher to resume her professional duties. Cases like this highlight the complex dynamics in modern classrooms, where disciplinary actions can quickly escalate into legal disputes.

This case underscores the importance of understanding and support in student-teacher relationships, particularly in the context of students with special needs.

The teacher's acquittal may serve as an example for other educational institutions on properly resolving conflicts and protecting educators' rights. Simultaneously, the situation emphasizes the necessity for constructive dialogue among parents, students, and teachers to prevent similar incidents in the future.
