According to ТСН: The search for 18-year-old Joshua Meddax from Colorado ended with a horrific discovery seven years after his disappearance. The boy, who went missing in 2008 during a walk, was found inside a chimney a mile from his home. The circumstances of his death raise many questions.

The Meddax family hoped for years that the boy had started a new life, leaving the city. His father, Mike, traveled to various campsites and shelters, trying to find any trace.

“One morning I woke up, and he was there, then he just didn't come back. We thought he was with friends, but no one had seen him. It's a long-term thing when you grieve while waiting,” Mike Meddax recalled.

Only in 2015, during the dismantling of an old cabin, builders discovered an unusual smell. When they moved furniture blocking the fireplace, they found neatly folded clothes and the mummified remains of the boy inside the chimney. His identity was confirmed through dental records and a previous injury – a missing part of his right index finger.

Investigators found that Meddax climbed into the chimney himself and got stuck, with the cause of death determined to be hypothermia. The boy was found in a fetal position. However, there are many unexplained moments in this version.

The homeowner, Chuck Murphy, insists that it was impossible to get into the chimney from above because a steel rod prevented animals from entering. Additionally, there was a large household object at the bottom that completely blocked the chimney.

“There is no way this boy climbed into that chimney with that steel webbing. He wasn't sliding down the chimney,” Murphy stated.

Moreover, questions arise as to why the boy was only dressed in a thermal shirt while other clothes remained neatly folded by the fireplace. How did he end up in the chimney? Why was he undressed? How could he get into the house if the fireplace was blocked? These mysterious moments remain unanswered.

The county coroner, El Born, acknowledged that the case is very convoluted and contains many key questions without answers. Meddax's death is officially classified as an accident.

Joshua's sister, Kate, after the body was found, wrote: “This is definitely not the outcome the Meddax family and many friends and loved ones of my brother Josh hoped for. However, we are immensely grateful for the opportunity to finally give Josh the proper memorial service he deserves, and to finally lay him to rest.”

Despite the completed investigation, Meddax's story remains one of the most mysterious in Colorado. The family continues to search for answers to numerous questions surrounding the circumstances of his disappearance and death, hoping to find some solace in this difficult situation.
