According to ТСН: A horrific tragedy occurred in Italy: two experienced skydivers - 70-year-old Hermes Zampa and 63-year-old Violetta Laiketsion - lost their lives. The incident took place during a group jump in the city of Fano, located south of Venice.

Preliminary reports indicate that their parachutes became entangled during the final descent stage, approximately 30 meters from the ground, leading to a loss of lift and immediate death.

Experience of the skydivers

Hermes Zampa had over 30 years of experience in skydiving and made more than 2000 jumps. He also worked as an instructor. Violetta Laiketsion, a former Brazilian athlete living in Italy, completed over 6000 jumps.

Circumstances of the incident

The incident occurred in the morning during a jump by a group of 14 skydivers. Hermes jumped first, and Violetta jumped last. Their collision happened during the final stage.

Roberto Maschio, director of Skydive Fano, noted that one of those present recorded the moment of the accident on video, which has already been seized by law enforcement. According to him, the footage shows the parachutes colliding, after which both fell.

“In such a situation, a person is too close to the ground to react in time. There were just seconds between the collision and the fall - it was a disaster,” Maschio said.

He also emphasized that he had known both victims for many years and highlighted their extensive experience. According to him, such tragedies occur due to human factors, and even a momentary lapse in attention can lead to a dangerous situation.

The police have already begun an investigation, reviewing video footage and interviewing witnesses. This tragedy has shocked the community of Fano and the international skydiving community.

It is worth noting that there was previously a recorded case where a skydiver survived after getting caught on the wing of an airplane. This highlights how risky skydiving can be, even for experienced athletes.
