Trump announces crackdown on drug trafficking from Venezuela: what the US plans.
According to ТСН: US President Donald Trump announced that the United States will soon start taking measures to block the land routes used by people suspected of drug trafficking from Venezuela.
“You’ve probably noticed that people don’t want to deliver goods by sea, and we will start stopping them on land as well. It’s easier to do it on land, and we will start doing it very soon,” Trump noted during a virtual chat with US service members.
The Venezuelan Ministry of Communications has yet to respond to a request for comment.
The Trump administration continues to consider possible actions against the Venezuelan government, which Washington accuses of facilitating the illegal supply of drugs to the US. President Nicolás Maduro denies any links to drug trafficking.
Trump has also previously emphasized that he is willing to consider the possibility of sending American military units to Venezuela if the situation demands it.
Additionally, it has been reported that the US Secretary of Defense will visit the Dominican Republic as part of the military buildup in the Caribbean region.
These new US measures underline the seriousness with which Washington is approaching the issue of drug trafficking from Venezuela. The involvement of military units may indicate an escalation of tensions in the region and an increased risk of conflict. Observers warn of the potential consequences of these actions for stability in the Caribbean.
