The US President announced a historic summit between Azerbaijan and Armenia
Donald Trump stated that on August 8, an important peace summit will take place at the White House, with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan taking part. According to Trump, the summit aims to conclude a long-awaited peace agreement.
The US President announced this on the social network Truth Social.
'I am looking forward to tomorrow's historic peace summit at the White House, which will be attended by Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan. These two countries have been at war for many years, resulting in the deaths of thousands of people'— wrote Trump.
The American leader also emphasized that previous attempts by world leaders to stop the conflict between Azerbaijan and Armenia did not yield results. Only during his administration was a positive resolution of the situation achieved.
Agreement between Azerbaijan and Armenia
The signing of an agreement between Azerbaijan and Armenia is expected to occur along with the conclusion of bilateral documents between the US and each country. Trump emphasized that these agreements are aimed at the joint development of the economy and stability in the South Caucasus region.
The US President expressed gratitude to Aliyev and Pashinyan for their courage and wisdom in making decisions in favor of their peoples, emphasizing that he is proud of the results achieved.
