According to ТСН: Darsey Hamilton from Scotland, who loses up to three liters of sweat every day, shared her story about the first signs of hyperhidrosis.

The problem first made itself known when Darsey was 10 years old - at that time she realized that she was sweating significantly more than her classmates. Her clothes became wet during physical exercises, which attracted the attention of those around her.

At school, her peers began to mock her condition, leading to Darsey dropping out at the age of 14. She was diagnosed with severe hyperhidrosis only at 16. Over the years, the situation only worsened, and at 22 she began losing up to three liters of fluid a day.

As a result of constant sweating, Darsey constantly has to carry spare clothes and shower at least five times a day.

Sweating Problems

According to data from the Cleveland Clinic, hyperhidrosis is a condition in which the body produces excessive amounts of sweat for no apparent reason, even at rest or during cold weather.

On the show This Morning, Darsey explained that the first signs appeared during sports activities, but at that time no one paid attention to her condition. Over the years, additional issues arose: irritations, rashes, painful ulcers, and blisters, and some types of fabrics only worsened the situation.

"It completely controlled my life. I didn't want to leave the house, socialize, or make friends. I was ashamed," Darsey admitted.

Due to excessive sweating, she lost a lot of fluid and was forced to drink up to five liters of water a day. This led to migraines, severe headaches, exhaustion, and skin issues, including contact dermatitis.

"The ulcers in my armpits and on my hands were unbearable. My hands developed hundreds of small blisters," she recalls.

Among the treatment methods, Darsey tried botox injections, which were initially offered to her as part of the healthcare system. The first course had amazing results: for more than a year, Darsey did not experience symptoms and felt like a "new person." However, then the treatment program was canceled, and now she has to pay for the procedures herself.

It is worth noting that deodorants and antiperspirants can serve as effective protection against sweat and odor.

Darsey's story highlights the importance of understanding and supporting people who face similar medical problems. The fight against hyperhidrosis is not only physical but also emotional, as it significantly affects the quality of life. That is why it is important to continue discussing these issues, as it may help others open up about their experiences and find ways to treatment.
