According to ТСН: The British authorities failed to implement the plan for the unilateral use of frozen Russian assets to finance Ukraine.

Joint agreements with partners

According to Financial Times, "British officials stated on Friday that London will not unilaterally use frozen Russian assets to assist Kyiv, as it had only planned to do so jointly with Australia, Canada, and the EU".

EU decisions and support for Ukraine

This decision resulted from the lack of support for a similar initiative in the European Union. EU leaders decided to provide Ukraine with a loan of 90 billion euros, which will be issued under the guarantees of the bloc's general budget.

A representative of the UK government emphasized that the country will continue to operate exclusively within the framework of joint agreements with G7 countries and the EU.

Financial support

The head of the UK Treasury, Rachel Reeves, noted that London will "urgently" cooperate with partners to provide Ukraine with the necessary funding. "The UK's support for Ukraine remains unwavering," she emphasized.

The UK government also announced the "reprofiling" of credit guarantees amounting to 2 billion dollars, the validity of which has been extended until 2026 to cover urgent needs of the Ukrainian budget.

Significant financial assistance

It was previously reported that London is ready to transfer a significant portion of frozen Russian assets located in the United Kingdom to Ukraine. The government believes that Russian dictator Vladimir Putin poses a direct threat to the country's safety and prosperity; hence, financial support for Ukraine is of strategic importance.

These decisions indicate the serious approach of the United Kingdom to support Ukraine during a difficult time. Although unilateral use of frozen assets could not be realized, coordination with partners within international agreements remains an important step in ensuring stability and security in the region.
