Incident in Chernihiv

According to TSN.ua: On March 30, a 52-year-old man set off a training grenade in the hallway of a multi-story residential building in Chernihiv. The event occurred around 6:00 PM, when the suspect—who was under the influence of alcohol—went to the apartment of his 82-year-old neighbor. In her presence, he detonated the grenade before returning to his own unit.

Police authorities in Chernihiv Oblast confirmed the details and stated that the man has been arrested. The case is being classified under Part 1 of Article 296 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (hooliganism), which carries a maximum penalty of up to five years of restricted freedom.

Other Incidents Across Ukraine

This was not an isolated case on that day. In Kyiv, a 47-year-old foreign national was also detained for threatening others with a grenade. These events highlight growing concerns over public safety and law enforcement in the country.

The recurrence of such incidents underscores the issue of explosive device storage and usage, as well as the urgent need for stronger public safety measures. Authorities must take action to prevent similar situations, as the risks associated with dangerous objects can endanger not only those directly involved but also innocent bystanders. Strengthening law and order, along with tighter oversight, may be key to addressing this problem.
