Explosions were heard in Kyiv at night

On February 12 at 04:27, alarms went off in Kyiv due to an air raid alert, after which a series of explosions were heard. Vitali Klitschko, the mayor of the capital, reported the operation of air defense.

According to the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, there were warnings about ballistic missiles from the northeast. Klitschko emphasized that the air defense is operational.

«As a result of the enemy attack, debris strikes and fires were recorded in the Holosiivskyi and Podilskyi districts. Information about the victims is being established, and services are heading to the scene. Please remain in safe places until the all-clear is given,» as reported by the Kyiv City Military Administration.

Andrii Yermak, the head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, commented on the missile strike on the capital and Kyiv region. He wrote: «Russia launched a missile strike on Kyiv and the Kyiv region, the air defense was working against the ballistic threat. This is how Putin wants to end the war.»

According to Vitali Klitschko, emergency services have arrived in the Solomianskyi, Sviatoshynskyi, Holosiivskyi, and Podilskyi districts of the city.

According to the Kyiv City Military Administration, there was a fire on the roofs of residential buildings in the Solomianskyi and Sviatoshynskyi districts.
