Water supply restored in Kyiv, but 50% of buildings remain without heating

According to ТСН: Water supply has been restored in the capital following the night shelling. However, about 50% of residential buildings in Kyiv still remain without heating.

Deputy Prime Minister for the Restoration of Ukraine Oleksiy Kuleba explained that utility services decided to drain water from the heating systems in the de-energized buildings to avoid damage to the networks due to frost. He emphasized that the situation remains complicated but under control. In some areas, heating is planned to be restored today, while in more problematic parts, repairs will take longer.

“The city authorities and utility services made the decision to drain water from the heating systems during the restoration works. This is a technical procedure that needs to be done to prevent water from freezing in the pipes. This decision allows preserving the system and quickly and safely restarting heating after stable electricity supply is restored,” said Oleksiy Kuleba.

According to him, all city hospitals are supplied with heat thanks to the use of mobile boiler houses. Currently, the city authorities, the Ministry of Energy, and relevant services are working to eliminate the consequences of the shelling.

“To support residents, more than 1,200 resilience points have been deployed in the capital,” noted Oleksiy Kuleba.
