Incident in Russia's Kursk Region

According to TSN.ua: On March 2, 2026, a Russian bomber released a FAB-type aerial bomb that landed just a few meters from a roadway in the village of Dovhi Budy, located in the Belovsky district of Russia's Kursk region. Fortunately, no injuries were reported from this event.

This marks the 14th recorded instance of an aerial bomb falling on Russian territory or temporarily occupied Ukrainian land in 2026. To put this in perspective, at least 143 such incidents were documented throughout 2025, and a minimum of 165 occurred in 2024. The use of upgraded bombs equipped with guidance kits may be contributing to these drops. Notably, aerial bombs have also been regularly falling within the city limits of Belgorod, a Russian city near the Ukrainian border.

Growing Safety Concerns in the Border Area

The incident highlights ongoing safety issues in the region and has raised alarm among local residents about the potential dangers posed by bombs falling on their communities.

The rising frequency of these bomb drops points to a deteriorating security situation in Russia's border districts. It may also indicate an intensification of military operations or training exercises, which increases the risks faced by civilians. Against the backdrop of a tense political climate, such events demand attention as they could undermine regional stability and safety.
