In the Kursk region, the Defense Forces continue the counteroffensive: details from the CPD.
The Defense Forces of Ukraine continue the counteroffensive in Kursk and are driving Russian military forces from occupied positions. This was reported by the head of the Center for Countering Disinformation, Andriy Kovalenko.
«In Kursk, despite the superiority of the Russians, the Defense Forces are conducting tactical counteroffensive actions and are pushing the Russians out of specific positions», – the statement says.
According to Kovalenko, Ukrainian fighters are facing an unusual number of Russian-Korean troops:
«Currently, the Russian-Korean troops maintain an advantage in personnel, but due to the terrain features, as well as losses in equipment and personnel, their pace of movement has been slowed and initial plans disrupted».
It is noteworthy that North Korea is likely to deploy new military personnel in Russia by mid-March 2025 to maintain the current pace and intensity of exhausting infantry assaults on the Kursk region. This was reported by analysts from the Institute for the Study of War (ISW).
It was also reported that as of mid-January 2025, DPRK forces lost 4,000 personnel in offensive combat operations against Ukrainian forces in the Kursk region. Of these, approximately a quarter were killed in action.
Earlier, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy showed new footage of the communication of captured North Korean soldiers with investigators from the Security Service of Ukraine. According to the captive, North Korean units in Kursk are experiencing large-scale losses that are even difficult to count. The North Korean also stated that he did not know where and against whom he would be fighting.
