Peace negotiations in Miami: what decisions were made by Ukraine and the USA.
According to ТСН: In Miami, Florida, negotiations between the delegations of Ukraine and the USA dedicated to the peaceful resolution of the war have concluded. The meeting lasted about four hours and brought together Ukrainian and American officials.
What Rubio said
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio noted that the Sunday meeting was "very productive and a useful session, in which... additional progress was made".
He also pointed out that both sides still need to work on many issues.
"We continue to realistically assess how challenging this is, but... since we have managed to make progress, I think there is a common vision here: it is not only about ending the war — which is certainly very important — but about securing Ukraine's future, a future that we hope will be more prosperous than ever".
Rubio also emphasized that Russia will play a key role in any agreement to end the war.
"There are many moving parts here, and, of course, there is one more side that has to be part of the equation. This issue will continue later this week when [Donald Trump's special envoy Steve] Witkoff will head to Moscow. We have also been in varying degrees of contact with the Russian side and understand its views quite well".
The Secretary of State noted that the diplomatic efforts of the Trump administration are ramping up this week, and Witkoff plans to visit Moscow for further negotiations.
Ukraine's Position
The head of the Ukrainian delegation Rustem Umerov characterized the meeting with his American counterparts as "productive and successful".
"Our goal is a prosperous, strong Ukraine," Umerov said to reporters. "We discussed all issues important to Ukraine. And the USA has supported us greatly."
He also added that this meeting was a continuation of the success of previous negotiations between the USA and Ukraine held in Geneva.
Earlier, Deputy Foreign Minister of Ukraine Serhiy Kyslytsia, who also participated in the negotiations in Miami, shared details of the meeting with Marco Rubio, Steve Witkoff, and Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner.
These negotiations are an important step in seeking ways to peacefully resolve the conflict. The involvement of high-ranking officials from both sides indicates the seriousness of their intentions to promote dialogue and achieve real results. Both delegations confirmed their readiness to work towards achieving peace for Ukraine, which is crucial for stability in the region.
