In the best case, there will be no light for up to 5 hours a day in winter – Media.
Ukraine is facing a problem of electricity shortages in winter, and this shortage leads to power cuts for 5 hours daily. This is reported by the Financial Times newspaper, citing energy specialists.
According to the most optimistic scenario, this winter is expected to see daily power outages for 5 hours, but this assumption is only valid if Russia does not attack the power system and the temperature does not drop below -15 degrees.
"Ukraine has a short-term plan to get through this winter, but to ensure energy security in the future, we need to decentralize the energy system," said DTEK CEO Maksym Timchenko.
The main reason for the energy problems this winter lies in the damage to the main power plants, not the substations. Most of the substations have reliable protection and are quickly repaired, emphasized former chairman of the board of "Ukrenergo" Volodymyr Kudrytskyi.
"Power outages and energy shortages are inevitable," he noted. "The question is how significant they will be. Much depends on the security of the power plants. Air defense is of great importance, and decentralization should happen in parallel."
