The incident took place in the city of Jelenia Góra. Around 14:25, Hania (12 years old) stabbed 11-year-old Danu in the neck. The victim had no chance of survival. Her body was found a few hundred meters from school No. 10, where both girls studied.

After attacking Danusia, the suspect also injured herself, scratching her fingers and palms. She fled home, where she tried to clean the blood. Hania returned to the crime scene, where she was apprehended by the police. Investigators found a knife, likely used in the crime—a scout knife that the girl threw in a trash can on her way home.
