A large-scale cyberattack on state registries occurred in Poland – media.
A large-scale cyberattack was carried out on the state registries system in Poland, leading to the inability to use state online services. Hackers deliberately struck the system, but the DDoS attack was successfully repelled. It was noted that the cyberattack took place on the last day for tax payments in Poland and for submitting applications for benefits and registration for testing. Cybercriminals wanted to disrupt these processes by adding their traffic and provoking chaos. For several tens of minutes, some state online services were not operational, including mCitizen and the Central Register of Vehicles and Drivers (CEPIK). However, the attack was repelled, and currently, the Cyber Police and the Internal Security Agency of Poland are investigating the circumstances of this incident.
Later, the Polish Minister of Digital Affairs stated that the 'Civic Platform' party was targeted by cyberattacks from groups in Russia and Belarus. It is also known that the French Minister of Europe acknowledged the responsibility of the Russian military intelligence for the cyberattacks on the TV channel TV5Monde and the hack of Emmanuel Macron's email during the presidential campaign. In addition, U.S. efforts to assist Ukraine in defending against Russian cyberattacks were curtailed due to interference by the Trump administration, which made our country more vulnerable to Kremlin hackers.
