A Ghanaian found hiding from the police in an Italian Christmas nativity scene.
According to ТСН: In the city of Galatone in southern Italy, an unusual 'resident' was discovered in a Christmas nativity scene. The mayor, Flavio Filoni, noticed the unexpected addition to the traditional figures of Joseph, Mary, and the baby Jesus.
An unusual resident of the nativity scene
The mayor realized that the new character in the nativity scene, set up in the city center, was a living person only when he approached closer. The man firmly refused to leave the nativity scene, considering it his shelter.
Police investigation
After law enforcement intervened, it turned out that a 38-year-old citizen of Ghana had settled in the nativity scene and was wanted by the authorities. He had been sentenced to 9 months and 15 days in prison for resisting an officer and causing serious bodily harm. To avoid punishment, he was trying to hide.
As a result of the check, the man who was trying to evade justice in the most public place was arrested and taken to prison in Lecce.
Thanks to law enforcement
Mayor Filoni expressed gratitude to the law enforcement agencies for their prompt work and emphasized the importance of vigilance and cooperation between services to detect wanted persons.
This case demonstrates how important it is to maintain order in society, even during the festive season. Galatone, with its traditional Christmas nativity scene, became the backdrop for an extraordinary story. Such events remind us that sometimes reality can turn out to be even more surprising than a fairy tale.
