Satellite detected blood in the desert of the USA: scientists provide an explanation

According to ТСН: The satellite images from the desert in New Mexico are actively discussed on social media, raising concerns among users due to the unusual appearance of the area. In the Google Earth images, people noticed a large red formation that some described as 'blood coming from the ground.'

Where the eerie formation was recorded

This phenomenon is located in a remote part of northern New Mexico, northwest of Santa Fe. Users pinpointed the exact coordinates of this place — 35°39′11″ north latitude and 106°08′49″ west longitude.

The images began to spread rapidly after a user published them on the X platform, writing: 'I am increasingly concerned about the huge pile of blood in the desert.'

This post garnered over two million views and sparked hundreds of comments.

Many users perceived what they saw as a possible 'omen of the end of the world' and recalled biblical prophecies, particularly the Book of Exodus, which speaks of turning water into blood.

Some even directly stated that such images correspond to descriptions of the 'last times,' and the red color was associated with divine judgment. Meanwhile, other users joked, believing it could be anything from a mob farm to 'blood of titans.'

What scientists think

Amid the panic, geologists offer a simpler explanation. According to experts, the red formation is a slag cone made of ash, slag, and rock accumulated from ancient eruptions.

This cone formed before the creation of the Valles caldera and is part of the region's ancient volcanic history. The intense red color is due to the high iron content in the rock, which oxidizes over time.

Why is the color so bright

Scientists emphasize that the dry climate of New Mexico helps preserve the bright coloring. Due to minimal precipitation, the rock experiences virtually no erosion, so the red hue remains intense for decades.

Additionally, such volcanic materials are often used in road construction, landscaping, and water purification systems, which can create the illusion of 'streams' of dark red color.

Experts note that there have been similar panic reactions in the past. For instance, recently the Galilee Sea in Israel turned a bloody red hue, causing fears of biblical signs.

However, official sources confirmed that the cause was due to algal blooms, particularly the bacterium Botryococcus braunii. Analysis showed that the water was safe for people and posed no threat.

Scientists emphasize that the unusual color of natural objects often has a completely earthly explanation. In the case of the New Mexico desert, it is not about the apocalypse, but about geological features that, combined with satellite images, can look frightening.

It should be noted that earlier scientists discovered the oldest mummies created over 12 thousand years ago. They have nothing in common with Egyptian pyramids or mummification.

Interestingly, instances of distorted perceptions of natural phenomena recur, so it is crucial to once again highlight that nature can surprise us with its forms and shades, which often have simple explanations from a geological perspective. Studying such supposedly supernatural phenomena helps relieve tension and eliminate fears that arise in society.
