SBU neutralized a terrorist in Zhytomyr: a 16-year-old girl was preparing a replacement.

According to ТСН: In one of the residential neighborhoods of Zhytomyr, a terrorist attack, apparently planned by Russian special services with the involvement of a minor, was prevented. The police reported that a 16-year-old girl from Berdychiv manufactured and installed an improvised explosive device near the high-rise buildings.

Law enforcement promptly detected the invaders' plans, allowing them to neutralize the dangerous device and avoid casualties among civilians.

"It has been preliminarily established that the underage resident of Berdychiv agreed to execute the task, hoping to receive money. She manufactured the improvised explosive device in Zhytomyr in a rented apartment. Later, she concealed it in a deserted place near the high-rise buildings and installed a phone for remote detonation. The agents of the Russian Federation intended to deceitfully lure specific victims there and carry out the explosion," the police stated.

According to police information, the girl reported the enemy's criminal intentions. This allowed rapid restriction of access to the dangerous area and the identification of the explosive device. Experts from the explosive technical service of the Zhytomyr police used controlled detonation to neutralize it.

"Investigators of the SBU in the region initiated a pre-trial investigation under Part 1 of Article 14, Part 2 of Article 258 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine - preparation for a terrorist act. It should be noted that according to current legislation, responsibility for such crimes arises from the age of 14, and punishment ranges from 5 years to life imprisonment," law enforcement officials stated.

It is also known that the court sentenced three members of the FSB agent group to 15 years in prison with confiscation of property: a local deputy and her two children. The Security Service of Ukraine exposed them in June 2024 for coordinating strikes in Khmelnytskyi.

Earlier it was reported that the Security Service of Ukraine thwarted the plans of Russian special services to carry out large-scale terrorist attacks in the capital. The criminals planned explosions in the Kyiv metro, in large shopping and entertainment centers, as well as contract killings of prominent Ukrainians.

This situation once again confirms the readiness of law enforcement to respond swiftly to threats from Russian agents. Thanks to the active actions of the police and the information provided by the girl, not only was the explosive device neutralized, but possible casualties were also averted. Additionally, cases against participants in terrorist activities continue, indicating Ukraine's relentless fight against terrorism.
