Ukraine Nearly Doubles Strike Drone Range: New Priority Targets Revealed.
Drone Warfare Intensifies in Ukraine
According to UATV: Ukraine has significantly ramped up its use of medium-range strike drones capable of operating from tens to hundreds of kilometers away. This shift is now a core component of the country's strategic defense operations. The operational range of these drones has nearly doubled, expanding from roughly 120 km to almost 240 km. The primary focus has shifted to disrupting Russian military supply chains and logistics.
Since early 2023, Ukrainian defense forces have been aggressively scaling up drone deployments. In just one week, FPV drone operators from the Security Service of Ukraine destroyed over 500 units of Russian military vehicles. These actions are helping Ukrainian forces seize the initiative and maintain operational control—key objectives for the country's military leadership.
“Prioritizing command posts, troop and equipment staging areas, and drone storage facilities is absolutely critical,” — General Oleksandr Syrskyi.
The general also highlighted the need to focus specifically on:
- command posts
- concentration areas for personnel and equipment
- unmanned aerial vehicle storage sites
Military infrastructure of this kind is considered essential for achieving operational goals. These targeted efforts are strengthening Ukraine’s defense capabilities and improving the effectiveness of its military campaigns.
Adapting to Modern Warfare
The growing reliance on medium-range drones reflects how Ukrainian forces are adapting to the demands of modern combat, where technology has become a decisive factor. This tactical evolution allows Ukraine not only to reduce casualties among its own troops but also to actively degrade the enemy’s logistical capacity. In the near term, this could have a major impact on the course of hostilities in the region.
