Ukraine discusses new sanctions packages and the format of direct negotiations with Russia - Zelensky.
Meeting of Zelensky with European leaders and the European Commission
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky held negotiations with the leaders of Finland, Italy, Germany, the European Commission, and Norway, where new sanctions against Russia and the possibility of peace negotiations were discussed.
'We are discussing details and ideas from yesterday's conversation with President Trump with our partners. It is important for America to continue participating in the process of bringing peace closer,' Zelensky noted.
New sanctions against Russia
In response to Russia's aggression, the European Commission approved the 17th sanctions package and began preparations for the next one. The President of Ukraine advocated for expanding sanctions pressure on Russian oil, the tanker fleet, energy infrastructure, banks, and the military-industrial complex.
Support in restoring peace
Zelensky also highlighted the visit of the Crown Prince of Norway to Ukraine, emphasizing the importance of this step for the Ukrainian people. Norway will provide nearly 8 billion dollars in support this year, part of which will be directed towards creating energy resilience and developing Ukrainian drones.
Zelensky expressed gratitude to his partners for investments in the Ukrainian defense industry, which will contribute to joint security in the future.
