Ukraine recovered 25 citizens from Russian captivity.
On January 15, Ukraine released 25 Ukrainians from Russian captivity, among whom are military personnel and civilians. Among them are defenders of Mariupol and Azovstal, as well as people from Kharkiv, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, and Kherson regions. This was reported by the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky.
Zelensky noted that this exchange was made possible thanks to the support of the United Arab Emirates.
The Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War reports that among those released is also a civilian who was captured in Kyiv region and illegally held by the Russians.
It should be noted that on December 30, 2024, Ukraine released 189 Ukrainians from Russian captivity. As the head of Ukraine stated, among those released were military personnel, including defenders of Azovstal and Mariupol, Chernobyl, Zmiinyi Island, as well as from various points along the front. Among them were soldiers, sergeants, and officers. These included National Guard members, including 'Azov' fighters, border guards, territorial defense members, Navy and Armed Forces personnel, as well as two civilians who were captured in Mariupol.
