Ukraine has completed the first stage of the exchange of prisoners and successfully returned a group of severely wounded and seriously ill defenders from Russian captivity. This became known thanks to agreements reached in Istanbul.Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced the successful exchange and the return of warriors who need urgent medical assistance. Among those released were representatives of various military structures, including fighters from Mariupol, who spent more than three years in captivity. The returned servicemen have serious injuries and illnesses and will now undergo necessary treatment.The freed fighters will receive medical assistance and material support for their time in captivity, and the number of released individuals will be announced later. Currently, an important process has begun to return Ukrainian military personnel from Russian captivity, which is an important step in resolving the conflict in eastern Ukraine.
