Record Night Attack by Russia: Over 700 Air Attack Means in One Day

According to ТСН: On the night of December 6, Ukraine experienced one of the largest attacks from Russia – over 700 air attack means were launched.

The chief of the communication department of the Air Force Command, Yuriy Ihnat, noted on the air of KYIV24:

“Today we witnessed a large attack, one of the record ones. Over 700 air attack means – this is certainly a huge number that moved across the entire territory of the state. The geography of the strike was quite wide. As it turned out, while we managed to deal with the cruise missiles, out of 34, 29 were intercepted. They were shot down by our anti-aircraft missile systems and aviation. Today, the fighters worked well. We also recorded the downing of MANPADS, awaiting confirmation.”

Yuriy Ihnat added that the Ukrainian air defense system was able to destroy a missile using MANPADS during this large-scale attack.

“Among our fighters, there are already some record holders who shot down more than five cruise missiles. And today the results against cruise missiles are indeed good. As for ballistic missiles, as you can see, their geography is also quite large. This includes Odesa region, Kyiv region, Zaporizhia, Dnipropetrovsk regions. The strike was dispersed. It is clear that the systems capable of intercepting – this is the ‘Patriot’. There were several successes in intercepting ballistic missiles, but unfortunately, we also had hits.”

It is also worth noting that on this night, Russia attacked energy facilities in eight regions of Ukraine.

This attack once again confirms the seriousness of the threat facing the country in wartime. Russian strikes on energy infrastructure aim to create hardships for the civilian population and reduce Ukraine's ability to defend itself. The condition of the air defense system, as this case demonstrated, remains a key factor in the fight against the aggressor, and now it is important to continue strengthening these capabilities.
