Strike on Russian Bastion Coastal Defense System

According to TSN.ua: On the night of March 24, Ukrainian forces targeted a Russian Bastion coastal missile system located in occupied Crimea. The enemy had been using this system to launch attacks on Ukrainian cities. The strike hit a Bastion launcher near Aktachi, effectively neutralizing a key threat posed by Russian troops.

Additional strikes were carried out in the areas of Velyka Novosilka, Khoroshe, and Novozlatopil. In Novozlatopil, a Russian repair unit was hit, while in Velyka Novosilka, a drone command post was destroyed. These operations demonstrate the systematic efforts of Ukrainian forces to degrade Russia's military capabilities in the region.

Bastion System Specifications

The Bastion system is designed to target surface ships and amphibious assault groups. It fires P-800 Oniks missiles, which have a range of up to 300 km in their basic version and up to 800 km in the upgraded variant. The missile reaches speeds of Mach 2.6, exceeding 3,000 km/h. Mobility is provided by the MZKT-7930 chassis, enabling deployment in just 5 minutes. Launchers can be positioned up to 25 km from the command post, enhancing their tactical flexibility in combat.

This strike underscores the proactive measures Ukrainian forces are taking in response to threats from Russian forces, as well as their commitment to safeguarding Ukrainian territory.

The incident is part of a broader Ukrainian strategy aimed at weakening the Russian army's capabilities in Crimea and eastern Ukraine. Targeting critical military assets reflects Ukraine's determination to maintain control on the front lines and reduce risks to its cities. Such operations may also impact Russian troop morale and the overall dynamics in the region.
