Government Allocates Funding for 2,000 Portable Power Stations for Children with Disabilities: Who Can Apply.
New Funding for Portable Power Stations Aims to Support Families of Children with Severe Disabilities
According to Novyny.live: Ukraine's Cabinet of Ministers has approved financing for 2,000 portable power stations intended for families raising children with disabilities classified under subgroup A. This program, which is being expanded and continued, addresses the critical needs of children whose daily lives depend on a stable electricity supply. The government previously funded the purchase and delivery of 10,000 portable charging stations, demonstrating ongoing efforts to assist vulnerable populations during the country's energy challenges.
Estimated Capacity and Eligibility Criteria for the New Devices
Each new station is expected to have a capacity of approximately 2 kWh, providing enough power to support essential medical and life-sustaining equipment for children with disabilities. Applications for the stations can be submitted until April 1. Eligible beneficiaries include children under 18 years of age who have a disability in subgroup A. Since the program's launch, only 7,000 to 8,000 children have received assistance over the past year.
- The one-time payment under the program was set at 50,000 hryvnias.
- To qualify for state aid, a child's parent, guardian, or legal representative may submit an application to receive a portable power station.
'We have decided to increase the share of budget funds allocated for the purchase and delivery of such devices to 30%.' Yulia Svyrydenko, government official
This initiative marks a significant step in supporting children with disabilities, especially given the challenging circumstances many families face. The government's move highlights a growing focus on the needs of vulnerable groups amid the country's unstable situation, particularly during energy crises. Providing portable charging stations can greatly ease the daily lives of families caring for children with disabilities by ensuring a reliable power source for life-sustaining equipment. The open application process also helps involve more families in the assistance program, broadening its impact.
