Kyiv tests its first double-decker bus: route and details.
According to inkorr.com: Kyiv has launched a test run of its first double-decker MAN A39 bus, gifted by the twin city Berlin. Currently, the bus operates on weekends
on route No. 57, which connects the 'Akademmistechko' metro station and the 'Chapayevka' Author Market stop.It runs from 9:43 to 18:53. This
was reported by 'Kyivpastrans.'
Double-decker bus MAN A39 for Kyiv
The MAN A39 bus accommodates 83 seated passengers — 28 on the lower deck and 55 on the upper one. Additionally, it has 45 standing passenger places (only on the first floor).
The bus meets all accessibility requirements:
has a low floor;
two spaces for wheelchair users;
space for a stroller;
two ramps for easy access.
The bus interior features panoramic windows, air conditioning, USB ports for device charging, an automatic fare payment system, and loudspeaker announcements of stops on both floors. Externally, the bus is equipped with an electronic display showing the route number.
Why Kyiv needs double-decker buses
As noted by 'Kyivpastrans', they are currently testing how effectively such vehicles can operate on urban routes.If the testing is successful, the introduction of double-decker buses on other public transport routes is planned.
Until now, similar buses had only been used in Kyiv for tourist excursions. The city authorities are currently considering the possibility of integrating them into regular transport circulation to increase capacity and comfort for passengers.
Lastly, it is worth mentioning that recently in Kyiv
the movement of several trams and trolleybuses was temporarily suspended due to voltage fluctuations in the energy system after another Russian shelling.
The testing of the double-decker bus in the city reflects the efforts of the Kyiv authorities to improve public transportation and ensure comfortable conditions for passengers. If the experiment is successful, the implementation of new buses on other routes is possible, which could significantly enhance the quality of transport in the capital.
