Night Attack on Odesa: City Left Without Light, Water, and Heat.
According to ТСН: Odesa experienced a series of powerful explosions due to an attack by the Russian army, which used dozens of strike drones. Although some of them were shot down, some still hit their target. Residential areas were affected: windows were blown out in houses, and residents, along with utility workers, are sealing them with film and installing wooden shields.
Damage affected warehouses, administrative buildings, and garages. Fires broke out at the impact sites, but firefighters quickly extinguished them.
Repetition of the Attack
During the day, Russia struck again with a ballistic missile. The President of Ukraine confirmed that a civilian vessel in the Chornomorsk port was hit. He emphasized that this attack, like many previous ones, has no military meaning.
Energy Supply Problems
As a result of the shelling, energy infrastructure facilities were damaged, leading to power outages in parts of Odesa, and consequently, the disruption of water supply and heating. Utility workers are delivering technical water by tank trucks.
Local residents note that such extensive blackouts are causing concern even during wartime.
“It was very scary; the explosions echoed one after the other. The light disappeared immediately and has not returned yet.”
Due to power outages, several tram routes in the city are not operating, and trolleybuses are running on a reduced schedule. Energy workers are servicing critical infrastructure under air raid signals, often interrupting repair work.
The main task remains the restoration of the water supply, so people are forced to stand in line at wells that provide water using generators.
Energy workers report that the situation is extremely difficult. Generators provide the operation of critical infrastructure, but the restoration of the water supply can only occur after the electrical system is activated.
The power outage has affected not only Odesa but also neighboring settlements. Only this year, according to energy workers, the enemy damaged at least 20 substations in Odesa region.
Drones Modification
Unusual behavior of Shahed kamikaze strike drones was also observed, which circled in the sky for a long time. Sergey “Flash” Beskrestnov explained that this is not a result of electronic warfare but a special modification of the Shahed-retransmitter, which acts as part of a MESH network.
These drones fly deep into Ukraine to retransmit signals from the territory of the Russian Federation and ensure stable communication for other strike devices operating in the country. Retransmitters can stay airborne for a long time, creating an illusion of chaotic flights.
Beskrestnov emphasizes that these drones should be priority targets for air defense, as their presence increases the effectiveness of subsequent waves of Shahed.
Overall, the situation in and around Odesa remains tense. The operations of repair teams are complicated by the conditions of war and the energy crisis resulting from active shelling. It is important to note that supporting the local population and restoring infrastructure should be priorities during this challenging time.
