According to ТСН: The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine is starting to create a working group that will quickly study the possibility of holding presidential elections during martial law.

This was stated by the head of the "Servant of the People" faction, David Arakhamia.

“We are creating a working group for the rapid processing of the possibility of conducting presidential elections during martial law. All factions, the Central Election Commission, and experts on the electoral process will be involved in the discussions.”

According to Arakhamia, the discussions will take place on the basis of the relevant Verkhovna Rada Committee on State Power Organization, Local Self-Governance, Regional Development, and Urban Planning.

The date and time of the first meeting will be announced later. Representatives of the media are also invited to cover the work of the working group.

It is worth noting that at the beginning of December, U.S. President Donald Trump stated in an interview with Politico the necessity of conducting presidential elections in Ukraine, adding that Kyiv “is using the war as an excuse not to hold elections.”

Earlier, President Volodymyr Zelensky supported the idea of electronic online voting in presidential elections, including through “Dія” and other electronic means.

This initiative indicates an intensification of discussions regarding democratic processes in Ukraine during wartime. The formation of the working group can be an important step in ensuring the electoral rights of citizens despite existing challenges. It is also important that various factions and experts are involved in the discussions, which may contribute to greater transparency and objectivity in decision-making regarding elections.
