Budanov on presidential elections: I have not approached this issue so specifically yet.
According to ТСН: The Chief of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine Kyrylo Budanov commented on the possible participation in the upcoming presidential elections.
During an open interview for LB.ua, he noted that this issue is currently not a priority for him, and he does not plan his political career. Responding to a question about the likelihood of running for president, Budanov emphasized that Ukraine should focus on other important challenges, as the country's future depends on many factors.
“Honestly, I have not approached this issue so specifically yet. I haven’t thought about it. I’m not sure that we will face this issue right now. And there are so many factors that will affect what happens next...”
It is also worth noting that at the beginning of December, US President Donald Trump expressed the opinion in an interview with Politico about the necessity of holding presidential elections in Ukraine, noting that Kyiv “is using the war to not hold elections.”
The President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy, for his part, assured that he has no intention of clinging to the presidential seat.
Moreover, Poland has expressed its readiness to assist in organizing the upcoming elections in Ukraine, offering practical support from Warsaw.
In the context of the unstable situation in Ukraine, the importance of holding elections is becoming increasingly evident. The country's authorities are striving to stabilize the political situation and ensure democratic processes even under difficult conditions. Therefore, international support, particularly from Poland, can play a significant role in organizing early elections.
