Deadly Drone Attack in Ivano-Frankivsk

According to TSN.ua: In a devastating incident on March 24, a drone strike in central Ivano-Frankivsk claimed the lives of a National Guard serviceman and his 15-year-old daughter. Six others were wounded, including a 6-year-old boy. The attack occurred near the city’s municipal and regional perinatal centers, both of which were damaged in the blast.

At the time of the explosion, approximately 100 people were inside the maternity hospital. The shockwave shattered over 100 windows across both perinatal facilities and neighboring buildings. Two people died and four were injured as a direct result of this strike.

Injuries and Community Response

Medical officials report that the wounded are in stable condition, though the 6-year-old boy is facing some complications. Ivano-Frankivsk Mayor Ruslan Martsinkiv stated:

“The condition of the injured is satisfactory; the 6-year-old boy’s life is not in danger, but there are certain complications.” – Ruslan Martsinkiv

Doctor Dmytro Tsymbaliuk confirmed that the child, who is on a ventilator, was lowered in a special transport incubator and is currently stable with no signs of deterioration. This tragedy has sparked widespread outrage among local residents and heightened concerns about regional safety.

The incident underscores the growing threat posed by drones in civilian areas, casting doubt on the effectiveness of security measures in Ukraine. Local authorities and medical services are now under pressure to better protect the population, as such attacks could have catastrophic consequences for civilians. The community’s reaction to this tragedy may influence future security and safety decisions in the city and across the country.
