This information was confirmed by law enforcement and the city council. According to police, the explosion happened in a garage cooperative and led to a fire. The explosion damaged neighboring high-rise buildings, cars, and garages. The body of the deceased was found under the rubble of the buildings, two injured individuals sought medical assistance on their own, and a 74-year-old man was hospitalized.

The mayor of Kharkiv stated that this incident is not related to military activities or attacks by Russia. He clarified that the explosion occurred in a garage cooperative, and a correctional facility nearby was also affected.

The director of the Emergency Medical Assistance Center, Viktor Zabashhta, reported that two of the injured were diagnosed with abrasions and a fractured leg, and their condition is stable.

Operations at the scene

As of 5:30 PM, the number of injured has increased to three individuals. Search and rescue operations are ongoing at the scene, and information is being verified about two people who are missing.

"To eliminate the aftermath of the explosion, 11 units of special equipment and more than 50 municipal workers have been engaged from the city budget," the press service of the Kharkiv city council reported.

The death toll has risen

Kharkiv City Mayor Ihor Terekhov reported that the body of another deceased person was found under the rubble at the explosion site.

"The death toll from the explosion in Olexiivka has increased — there are now two dead. Search and rescue operations are ongoing," he wrote.

It is worth noting that earlier in Kryvyi Rih, a ballistic shell reportedly from the "Iskander-M" complex hit an administrative building. Several high-rise residential buildings were damaged as a result of the strike.
