According to Novyny.live: Individuals who have been granted a deferment from mobilization are not required to undergo a military medical commission (MMC), but they may still receive draft summons. This clarification comes from Yevgen Korniychuk, deputy head of the Odesa Regional Territorial Center for Recruitment and Social Support. He stated that those with a valid deferment should not be forcibly sent to the MMC if their previous medical conclusion is less than one year old. In practice, however, these individuals might still receive a summons to update their personal data or be invited to the territorial recruitment center (TRC).

How Often Must You Undergo the Military Medical Commission?

The frequency of MMC examinations depends on the current national situation. Under normal circumstances, citizens must undergo the medical commission once every five years. However, during martial law, this examination is required annually. This is a crucial requirement for military-liable persons, as it ensures timely health assessments and readiness for service.

In the Odesa region, law enforcement has detained nine individuals suspected of torturing military-liable persons at a TRC. Among those arrested are six officials of the recruitment center and three representatives of a public organization. This group is suspected of illegally detaining and torturing people, which constitutes a serious crime. These actions by law enforcement demonstrate an active effort to combat such abuses during wartime.

This situation highlights the importance of protecting the rights of citizens who have a deferment from mobilization, as well as the need for oversight of military authorities. The detention of those suspected of torture may serve as a signal that state bodies are actively responding to cases of abuse occurring in the context of war.
