Drone hits house in Lviv region: police calls for new laws for UAVs.
According to ТСН: Today, in the village of Sokilnyky, Lviv region, a drone hit a private residential house around 04:00, causing an explosion and damaging the roof and facade. Fortunately, no one was injured.
The head of the National Police of Ukraine, Ivan Vihivskyi, emphasized that this incident once again demonstrates the urgent need to update legislation regarding unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).
The police have already begun an investigation into a possible attempted murder.
'We are identifying the type of drone, its flight path, and individuals who may be implicated. However, this case reflects that without systematic control, risks to the civilian population will only increase,' said Ivan Vihivskyi.
Key Legislative Initiatives
The National Police insists on the need for legislative changes that will regulate the use of UAVs in the post-war period. Among the proposed initiatives is draft law No. 13600, which provides for:
Mandatory registration. Inclusion of UAVs in the State Register of Aircraft.
State accounting. Accounting for all drones in the National Police units.
Flight regulations. Identification of users and requirements for documents allowing flights.
Administrative liability. Fines for the operation of unregistered drones, flights without documents or while intoxicated.
Criminal liability. Strengthening penalties for violations that may endanger people or cause significant material damage.
'This is a protection for Ukrainian citizens, which must become the norm in the post-war period. Drones will remain a part of our daily life, so their use must be controlled and safe,' emphasized the head of the National Police.
The National Police is actively working on the adoption of these legislative initiatives.
It is also worth noting that there were no official warnings about the UAV threat in the region during the drone strike, and air alert was not announced.
This incident underscores the importance of controlling drones, as security conditions and modern threats become increasingly serious. It is evident that introducing new regulations can significantly enhance the safety of civilians and prevent similar situations in the future.
