Veteran of ATO and Armed Forces killed in Lviv: what is known about the rebel and the victim.
The death of military officer Yurii Bondarenko
According to ТСН: Yurii Bondarenko, a military officer of the TCC, was killed in Lviv by a civilian during mobilization activities. He was an ATO veteran who returned to the front with the start of the full-scale war.
According to Ukrainian journalist and volunteer Serhiy Grishin, Yurii was wounded during combat actions but returned to the ranks of the Defense Forces — first in the air defense unit and later in the TCC.
Lviv.media reports that Yurii Bondarenko joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine in March 2015 and participated in combat actions until April 2016. After serious health issues, he was discharged to the reserve.
Serhiy Grishin shared his acquaintance with Yurii. He noted how the military gave him his pickup truck for the needs of the Armed Forces.
“In the summer of 2023, an unknown person from a chat wrote that he wanted to give away his pickup because he no longer needed it. The situation seemed strange, but I started a conversation. Eventually, the very next day I was in Lviv. Yura handed over his L200 pickup in excellent condition. We started to become friends…”
Grishin also noted that Yurii continued to financially support the military, in particular, once he donated $5000.
“This is how we became friends, meeting in Lviv every 2-3 months. Once, Yura said he couldn’t stay away and decided to enlist again…”
According to additional information, Yurii Bondarenko was from Kharkiv and served in military unit A1463, where he carried out the tasks of a radar station operator. Due to a serious deterioration in health, he was transferred to the Halytsko-Frankivsk ORTC and SP.
According to data from the police of Lviv region, the deceased military officer was 37 years old.
Recall that recently in Pyriatyn, Poltava region, there was an incident where a man shot a serviceman of the Poltava RTC.
This tragedy underscores the dangers faced by military personnel during mobilization activities and also reminds of the difficulties veterans face when returning to service. Yurii Bondarenko left an important part of his life on the front, and his story is a testament to the dedication and courage of Ukrainian soldiers.
