According to TSN.ua: In the Zakarpattia region, a mother and stepfather repeatedly raped their 10-year-old daughter and recorded the assaults on video. The girl reported the abuse to law enforcement in March 2023, leading to the couple's arrest and the launch of a criminal investigation by prosecutors.

The Tyachiv District Court found the stepfather guilty of the repeated rape of a minor and sentenced him to life imprisonment. The girl's mother was also convicted, found guilty of repeated rape and possession of child pornography. The court stripped the woman of her parental rights concerning the victim and a younger daughter.

The Zakarpattia Regional Prosecutor's Office has appealed the court's verdict, demanding a life sentence for the mother as well. The children are now living with their biological father, a military veteran.
