Zaluzhny published his first post in 2025.
The Ambassador of Ukraine to the United Kingdom, Valeriy Zaluzhny, noted in his first post of 2025 that January 10 marks the 33rd anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Ukraine and the United Kingdom.
On January 10, we celebrate an important anniversary - in 1992, Ukraine and the United Kingdom officially established diplomatic relations. This is an important date for our bilateral relations, but if we look deeper, the history of our connections began much earlier.
According to the diplomat, the history of the Ukrainian diaspora in the United Kingdom began in 1893 when 150 Ukrainian workers settled in Manchester. These people became the first members of the Ukrainian community in the United Kingdom, founding the 'Ukrainian Club' - the first organization to preserve Ukrainian culture and language in the country.
This first step contributed to the development of the Ukrainian community, which, through emigration, education, and work, found its second home in the United Kingdom. Zaluzhny emphasized that for over 30 years, we have had the opportunity to work at an official diplomatic level, strengthening relations in all areas from politics to culture and economy.
When the war reached our homes, the United Kingdom was one of the first to provide assistance - not just in words, but in actions. I want to thank all the Britons who support Ukraine and actively contribute to the development of our cooperation. You are an important part of our struggle for independence and we will always be grateful to you for this.
It is noted that Valeriy Zaluzhny released his first book 'My War', which is the first part of a trilogy. The manuscripts for the book were collected and edited by his wife.
