Zaluzhnyi called for a ban on Netrebko's performance in London: what is known.
According to inkorr.com: In his recent address, former Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and ambassador Valeriy Zaluzhnyi called on the Ukrainian authorities to cancel the concert of Russian opera singer Anna Netrebko, planned in London. He believes that Ukrainians will perceive her performance differently, given her collaboration with Russian President Vladimir Putin, who is accused of responsibility for the tragedies that occurred during the conflict in Donbas. Zaluzhnyi emphasized Netrebko's long-standing partnership with Putin and advocated for the cancellation of her concert in the United Kingdom.
«For me and for millions of Ukrainians, every note, every tear will sound differently. For we remember that for decades this singer stood shoulder to shoulder with Vladimir Putin, the man responsible for the deaths of thousands of Ukrainian children»
The cancellation of Netrebko's performance at the Royal Opera House in London has already sparked lively discussions in British society, considering her ties to the Kremlin and support for Russian aggression in Ukraine.
This situation underscores how artistic events can become political issues that cause division in society. Many question whether it is appropriate to hold concerts featuring individuals who have ties to the aggressor, especially in times of war. Zaluzhnyi called for caution and sensitivity regarding the perception of such events in the context of human rights violations and international order.
